Scenography for the exhibition 1977 at the art center L’Onde in Vélizy-Villacoublay (France) from April 1 to June 30, 2017

The art center L’Onde is presenting an exhibition celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the Georges Pompidou Center. Taking the year 1977 as its starting point, the project stretches backwards and forwards in time, and connects parallel histories, that of the Pompidou Center and that of active figures in the shadow of its creation, with the collaboration of artists of today.
The exhibition takes the form of a constellation linking a selection of works from the collection of the Musée national d’art moderne and a set of works and documents collected for the occasion. An exploration of the cybernetic unconscious of Beaubourg, 1977 attempts to make the history of a utopia that has remained unfulfilled legible.
The space is organized on and around a large green monolith - a simple scaffolding covered with a safety net. This imposing structure represents the status of the exhibition project as a construction site and re-enacts, nearly 40 years later, the eventful implantation of this singular building in the heart of Paris.
