Studiolo, 2018
Poplar plywood, lacquered steel, linoleum
460 x 680 x 252 (h) cm

Thought as a freestanding architecture positioned in the reception room of the exhibition centre FRAC Franche-Comté, in Besançon, Studiolo is used both as a welcome desk and a bookshop. Inspired by the Italian Renaissance’s wonder-rooms - also known as “studiolo” - and their wood-covered walls, the structure consists of a series of functional shelves and sloping boards that allow to exhibit books and artefacts. The plywood elements are associated with lacquered steel and linoleum, thus granting comfort and warmth to the employees and the visitors.
