Project overview
2016-2020

Initiated in 2016 as part of the French Institute’s residency programme “Hors les murs”, this research work focuses on open-air performance buildings and a particular architectural detail: the tier. This research has led Olivier Vadrot all around the Mediterranean basin. Initially limited to a study of Greek and Roman buildings, the corpus has gradually been extended to the Renaissance theatres in the antique style, then to modern buildings such as those of Pier Luigi Nervi or Le Corbusier.
