Work realized during a residency within the Logirem company, in partnership with Marseille Provence 2018 and Mécènes du Sud.
Halfway between a banquet table and a market stall, Mercato (“market”, in Italian) is a micro-architecture aiming to introduce a recreational space into a work environment. Developed in 2018 as part of a six-month residency at Logirem - a company in charge of building social housing in the Marseille area - the project took shape following discussions with employees willing to share their experiences and needs. The silhouette of Mercato, with its long tables made of untreated solid wood, its hammock and its pergola that protects from the Mediterranean sun, evokes familiar memories of a jovial summer lunch with friends or a morning at the market. Nomadic because it can be easily dismantled, the structure was first installed in the courtyard of the FRAC Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur in Marseille in August 2018 before being transferred to Logirem’s headquarters for the private use of employees.
