Solo exhibition by Olivier Vadrot at FRAC Franche-Comté, Besançon (France), from June 10 to September 30, 2018.
Creator of Studiolo, the Frac Franche-Comté’s reception-library inaugurated in February 2018, Olivier Vadrot is invited by the Frac to present all of his various projects in the form of models and documents. These projects, which revisit the architectures of the past, from antiquity to Le Corbusier via the Palladian theaters, nevertheless oppose them with an economy of means by favoring simple, even vernacular materials, modest scales, lightness, nomadism, short time, and even ephemeral achievements. Whether they are devices conceived for the diffusion of works (visual or sound) or, as recently, a communal bread oven, Olivier Vadrot’s proposals have as their goal sharing, by allowing their users to stand together, without spatial and therefore social precedence. Non-authoritarian architectures in short.
